Syama Bunten is an investor and operator who leads Green Sand Women. Her primary focus is on increasing the wealth of women globally through investment opportunities and education. She has received awards for her work, including Thought Leader of the Year (2022) and WWD Top Women in Business (2017). She has also been featured in various media outlets such as NPR, INC, and Financial Times.
Syama began her career building entrepreneurial divisions at Barneys New York and Gucci. She later founded Scaling Retail, a consultancy for early and growth stage consumer brands, where she launched the first Bitcoin ATM machine in 2014. She co-founded and scaled up Rendall Co, a hospitality brand based in Los Angeles in 2020, and is currently the Co-CEO at Sona Technologies, an early-stage startup building at the intersection of blockchain, marketplace, and music streaming.
Syama values learning and has completed continuing education coursework at Columbia Business School, Stanford GSB, The Black Swan Group, TechStars, and Harvard. She received her bachelor's degree in Economics and Philosophy from the City University of New York in 2006.
